We believe in being thorough when we take a patient history, because it helps us make sure we’re addressing all your issues. Sometimes, we’ll suggest a treatment, and patients will react with surprise. They may say things like:
“I didn’t know a chiropractor could help me with that!”
“I thought you just treated bad backs!”
“How can a spinal adjustment possibly help with that?”
The truth is that chiropractic care can not only help with a wide range of health problems, it can also promote optimal overall health. And while we do recommend spinal adjustments for many issues, we also perform other treatments, such as physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, JOOV red light therapy, and NuCalm. Often we prescribe more than one of these treatments, as they work together to improve and maintain your health and well-being.
Here are 5 common but surprising conditions and ailments your chiropractor can treat.
Many people we meet have struggled for years with these debilitating headaches, trying multiple medications and treatments. In many cases, a spinal misalignment or other issue can contribute to migraines, and spinal adjustment or other therapies can finally provide relief.
Other Head, Face, and Neck Issues
Chiropractic care can help with more than just neck pain or injuries. Related conditions like jaw pain or TMJ may also respond to some of our therapies. Some patients with chronic sinusitis, tinnitus, vertigo, Bell’s Palsy, or other ear, nose, and throat problems also respond well to spinal adjustment or other treatment options. We’ve even helped people who had failed to find relief from ear, nose, and throat specialists, or those who had tried multiple medications to treat ear or sinus difficulties.
High Blood Pressure
This one really surprises people. Patients may ask, “What does adjusting my spine have to do with my blood pressure?” A lot, actually. Spinal adjustment, physical therapy, massage therapy, and other methods of improving blood flow can help your body adjust and balance your blood pressure naturally. Some of our therapies also help you to relax and relieve stress, which can do wonders for your blood pressure.
This disorder can be very painful, and doctors often have little success at treating it. Worse, patients with fibromyalgia may find that physicians dismiss their symptoms, or write them off as being psychological. Even when doctors do take the symptoms seriously, there are only a few medications to try, and if they don’t work or cause problematic side effects, patients may still be in pain. Chiropractic care can help heal the nervous system, as well as treating pain pressure points (acupuncture may also be helpful here).
Anxiety or Stress
We live in a world of constant stress, from work to home life—and if you’re working from home, it may all run together! Stress can take a toll on your physical and mental health, and even lead to anxiety or depression. Chiropractic adjustments can help relieve stress—when your spine is properly aligned, it’s easier to feel relaxed. Our NuCalm treatments are drug-free and use electromagnetic frequencies to activate the brain’s parasympathetic nervous system. This induces a state of deep relaxation and restoration, improving sleep and mood.
Chiropractic Care for Overall Health and Wellness
Because regular chiropractic care can help relieve so many conditions and maintain wellness, it’s important to talk with your chiropractor about any symptoms you might be having. They may be able to diagnose and treat the issue, as well as prevent further difficulties.
