AN ANCIENT THERAPY TO ADDRESS THE PAIN AND STRESS OF A MODERN WORLD
Dating back over 4,500 years, acupuncture is recognized as a powerful agent in disease prevention. The goal of acupuncture therapy is to strengthen the immune system, improve metabolic function, and enhance your quality of life. It's universally accepted as a natural alternative medicine to help relieve pain, reduce anxiety, and stimulate a renewed sense of wellness for the body and mind.
What exactly is acupuncture?
Most people are not too familiar with acupuncture, why or how it works. If you've never tried it before, we offer a simple introduction here.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice of inserting very thin needles through your skin at specific pressure points on your body. These points are chosen based on the issues you are experiencing, or your goals for treatment. Acupuncture stems from the ancient belief that that qi, or chi, the life force that flows through a body, can easily become imbalanced, leading to physical, emotional, and cognitive difficulties.
Acupuncture, or the practice of releasing toxins from specific pressure points, will help re-balance your chi.
Acupuncture is most commonly not at all painful
Often patients are surprised to learn that there is little or no pain involved, and acupuncture treatments can help with many kinds of pain. However, today more people are also using it for overall wellness, including help with stress relief.
That's not to say there are no ill side effects at all; everyone's body is different, so everyone responds to the stimulation differently. But most often, when discomfort is experienced by patients, it's reported as mild soreness afterward.
The needles aren't just inserted anywhere—they're placed in areas that stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. Over time, this allows a deep healing process to get the body back in balance.
